Greener Was Invincible
This article, dated 8-14-1913, recapped a game at “J&G Park” between the Danforths and the Philadelphia Colored Giants.
The Philadelphia Giants were a Negro league baseball team that played from 1902 to 1916.
From 1904 to 1909 they were one of the strongest teams in black baseball, winning five eastern championships in six years.

GREENER WAS INVINCIBLE
Danforths Gave the Famous Philadelphia Colored Giants a Severe Walloping at J. & G. Park Yesterday Afternoon.
Playing to their best form the Danforths administered an awful walloping to the Philadelphia colored Giants at J. & G. park yesterday afternoon. The Locals hit the ball when hits meant runs and fielded wonderfully, nothing getting them and the two errors scored against them amounted to nothing as one runner was caught at second and the other was left.
It is a hard matter to give credit to any particular player as everyone played fast baseball throughout the game and Greenslete pitched air-tight ball, the Giants being unable to do anything with is offerings.
