Well, good Sunday morning to everybody. It’s October 30th. This is Dave Karpinskii from the Parkhurst Field Foundation down at the ballpark, giving everybody the weekly update. I’m standing underneath the grand stands. You can see the white, the right wing of the grandstands. Those big pillars are going to support the steel, which did arrived this past week and more.
On Monday, there’s the left wing of the grandstands, and as I walk forward, you can see some of the developments on the field itself. We have the home plate location bricks laid down, Clay is down. The mound is complete. You see the top soil, which will be coming in everywhere that you see, sand here, will be top soil, then the grass. The sod is being brought in around November 10th. And as you walk down the right field line, we’re just passing where the dugout will be.
You see the entire warning track has gone in at the park about a five foot warning track. Everything else will be brought up to grade to match with it. And then this is our spectator area. So beside the grand stands, you have the spectator area down the right and left field side. This first area that I’m entering will be covered. You’ll have an access here through the back through the door, if you will, and then once you get past these tall posts, it will be uncovered for the people who want to be in the sun with a short wall in front of it. And then there will be a tall wall right here. And what you’re seeing is the bullpen area, down the right field line. So there’s one of these in right field, one in left field.
Kids will be able to come down here, enter in from the field, do their warmups, and get into the game. So, spectators will have a lot of different views. Here’s the view from right field of the entire park and back to the grand stands lot going on the steel. Regrettably, we were sent the cross beams before the uprights. That’s why we didn’t see steel this week go up, but that will be delivered I think, on Monday. And, then you’ll start seeing the structure go up for the grandstands. But, a lot of work being done. The biggest development was home plate, the mound, filling in where the grandstands are, the warning track and soon to be the sod.
