Giants Stage Five-Run Rally in Sixth to Triumph by 7 to 4 CountThe Scranton Giants put on an exhibition of timely hitting in the sixth frame of the game with the Rite-Ways on the Parkhurst diamond last evening and scored five runs in the rally and then coasted through to an easy victory over the locals by the final score of 7 to 4. The Giants coupled five hits with two errors on the part of Fisher, the Roofers’ rightfielder, when they slaged the big rally. Smith, elongated pitcher for the visitors, smashed the ball into the woods beyond the center field wall to score a home run.
The Roofers played a fast game of ball during the early frames last night and deserved to win. The locals tallied three times in the first frame on successive singles by Vine, Bigsbee and Burns followed by four free passes. The locals scored the other run in the third frame when Bigsbee singled and scored on a double by Custer.
Bigsbee and Custer played in the Rite-Ways infield last evening for the first time and showed up exceptionally well handling 14 chances during the eight frames without an error. Bigsbee and Custer led in the batting attack of the team with two hits each including a double for Custer.
